AIChE Objectives
This year, AIChE is focusing on professional development, alumni outreach, and promoting the chemical engineering community. Chemical engineers are relevant to many industries, and we believe it is important members are aware of their options and have the necessary soft skills to achieve their personal goals. To accomplish this, we have many events planned for this upcoming year.
Please consider donating to AIChE and helping us reach our objectives for this year. Below, we have what we will do with any donations we receive and why these donations are essential to our members. What Does AIChE Do?
AIChE has a variety of events planned for this coming year to further our objectives for this year. Some of them are as follows:
Community Building and Outreach:
Alumni Open House in McCourtney Hall - Please join us on the morning of October 29th, before the football game against Miami!
STEM Day - Partner with the Boys and Girls Club to introduce kids grades 1-8 to STEM activities.
ChEgs and Coffee - Facilitate coffee drinking and conversations between underclassmen and upperclassmen.
Discernment:
Mentorship Program - Pair interested alumni and undergraduates.
Named Speakers - Invite chemical engineers from different industries to describe where chemical engineers can fit in at their company.
Factory Tours - Tour nearby factories to learn more about how different processes function.
Professional Development:
Regional AIChE Conference - Would like to send members to the regional AIChE conference to practice networking and discernment.
Career Center Information Sessions - Facilitate better use of Career Center resources to ensure more effective job search practices.
AIChE Certification Sessions - National Chapter offers certifications, which AIChE members can receive by fulfilling requirements.
In addition to these events, we have many more planned! We also have a ChemECar team, which each year builds a car that runs on a chemical reaction. Our ChemECar team recently received a 10th place out of 21 teams at the regional competition. We would like to keep adding members to this great learning opportunity, and maybe keep moving up in the rankings!
American Institute of Chemical Engineers
AIChE functions as a professional organization for Notre Dame chemical engineers. We are committed to supplementing in class knowledge with out of class experiences, and helping our members be the best chemical engineers possible, regardless of what path they take after graduation. We put on a variety of events, designed for discernment, community building, and professional development.
Why Support AIChE?
We will be using donations to fund students to go to the AIChE Regional Conference, an important opportunity for networking and professional development. Registration is $55 per member and we are hoping to send 30 members. In addition, we would like every member to feel comfortable participating in any and all activities, regardless of financial ability. Because of this, we would love to be able to fully fund all of our planned club events for this coming year.
