The App Club has one main goal: to promote mobile and web app development on campus. We know that Notre Dame students have the creativity and ability to approach problems and opportunities they see with original solutions, and our club is here to help them utilize the most wide-reaching media today. Our club achieves this goal by encouraging all students, regardless of their major or technical experience, to grow and connect with other like-minded students. For those with little to no experience, we hold workshops and group meetings to build simple apps with the intention of gaining practical experience among group members. For students with experience, they get the chance to be a mentor to the less experienced, in addition to being connected with opportunities around the Notre Dame community to show their skills and make a difference. Whether you join the club to learn to code or start a business, the App Club is designed to build a community of mobile and web developers eager and able to innovate here at Notre Dame and well beyond campus. At the end of the year, we host a demo competition in which any student can present their app to an audience of other students, faculty, and alumni visiting for the McCloskey Competition. Through all our activities, we want to bring together bright and innovative minds to create their own solutions to today's challenges and opportunities. Please spread the word and help us earn votes! Donations will be used to fund learning materials for our club members, subscribe to services needed to support the apps we develop, and host events that bring together Notre Dame and the bright and innovative minds within it. Whether it's a small group working on our club app, or a large audience spectating our App Demo Competition, your donation will make an impact at inspiring and building a community of doers in the mobile and web spaces. During this exciting time, we have the unique opportunity to earn a portion of a $1 Million! Make a $10 gift on Notre Dame Day (April 24 – 25), and receive 5 votes to cast. The total number of votes we receive decides our percentage of the $1 Million. Please vote for us!
App Club
The App Club aims to create a community of mobile and web developers who are ready to take on the challenges and opportunities present today. From teaching those without development experience to connecting those who do with opportunities around the Notre Dame community, we believe that Notre Dame students can make a lasting impact through mobile and web development. Speaking of whom, congratulations to the winners of this year's App Demo Competition! Our winning team was SquadSnap (John Joyce and Devon Krapcho), our runner-up was Dribblr (Pat Myron), and our featured app was Bionic Eyeglass (Csanad Egervari). All will be featured in an Observer article, and our winning team will be awarded $1000 in gift cards of their choosing. This year's demo competition was especially competitive, with over 20 apps submitted for just 8 spots for presentation. Everyone did a tremendous job, and we look forward to putting on an even bigger event next year! Feel free to scroll through the photos above from this year's competition.
Why are donations necessary?
We are seeking donations because we want to grow our impact on campus by removing some of the hurdles we face in building the community we want. From acquiring high quality learning materials for our less experienced members to subscribing to technology services needed to create high-performing apps, there are clearly defined costs posing as obstacles to advancing the club's mission. With your help, the challenges faced by all members of our club can be reduced as more resources directly translates to a more engaged and influential developer community.
