Your support is critical to our team’s continued success. Our team goals are: to work within our budget constraints to design and build a top ranked vehicle, to place first at competition (typically each event attracts 100 university teams), and to solidify ND Baja's reputation for consistently producing the highest caliber engineers.
Baja SAE
The University of Notre Dame Baja Team is dedicated to competing at the highest level of the Baja SAE competition. As team members, we learn to apply our engineering education to a demanding real world project that requires strict time management, budgeting, team organization, precise design, and careful execution of the build. By bringing our vehicle from the drawing board to a completed and race tested end product, we learn what it takes to become leaders in a competitive environment. Thank you for your support!
Why are donations necessary?
The University as a whole and the Mechanical Engineering Department within the College of Engineering have limited budgets. The annual cost of competing in the SAE sanctioned Baja competitions is in excess of $30,000. That amount breaks down roughly as follows: $4,000 to chassis and materials, $6,000 to machining, $2,000 to testing and equipment, and $18,000 to competition registration and travel.
