Description

The CRC houses three complementary resources: the High Performance Computing section, providing over 25,000 cores of computational power with the associated support infrastructure for both hardware and installed software; the Cyberinfrastructure section, empowering Faculty and industry partners to develop research environments that support advanced data and information processing services including acquisition, storage, management, integration, mining and visualization of data; and the Research Development group, cultivating better, more sustainable software to enable world class research. The LIVE Notre Dame Day broadcast will kick-off at 18:42 pm ET (6:42 pm ET) on April 24 at NOTREDAMEDAY.ND.EDU. The 29-hour broadcast will showcase Notre Dame stories from around the world, as well as live interviews, special musical performances, remotes, in-studio performances and surprise celebrity guests. Please spread the word and help us earn votes! Follow the celebration on social media with #NDday.

Donations will help support the CRC's critical research taking place on campus. During this exciting time, we have the unique opportunity to earn a portion of a $1 Million! Make a $10 gift on Notre Dame Day (April 24 – 25), and receive 5 votes to cast. The total number of votes we receive decides our percentage of the $1 Million. Please vote for us!

Center for Research Computing

From healthcare to physics, the Center for Research Computing (CRC) is where Notre Dame develops solutions to the world’s global challenges through advanced computation and data analysis. The CRC’s computational scientists and research programmers work side-by-side with scientists, engineers, and mathematicians, as well as scholars in the arts, humanities, and business, to tackle complex problems through high performance computing, geographical information systems, scientific visualization, and much more. With the commitment and tools needed to find meaning in data, the CRC is revolutionizing how Notre Dame does research. We are excited to announce our participation in Notre Dame Day, when the global Notre Dame family will come together to celebrate what each of us loves most about the University.

Why are donations necessary?

The CRC team works across campus to support faculty, graduate researchers, and undergraduate students in analyzing enormous datasets. Some recent projects include: Building frameworks for Notre Dame biologists to control and eradicate malaria, lymphatic filariasis, and other tropical diseases; Developing advanced image recognition techniques to assist researchers in detecting fraudulent drugs; Scanning and creating 3D renderings of world heritage sites in order to preserve them digitally for future generations, such as the Taj Mahal and the Roman Forum; Modeling hurricanes to help emergency personnel prepare for the impact of major natural disasters; Developing national data services for researchers nationwide to enable research reproducibility, data sharing, and long-term data and software preservation; and creating frameworks to support science integrity.
