Department of Art, Art History and Design

From the beginning of recorded history, the human ability to communicate ideas, to record experience, to solve complex problems, and to design objects of beauty and utility have been embedded in human culture and central to personal growth. Our department provides a unique perspective on what it means to be human. Under the guidance of a talented and diverse faculty, students will acquire the technical and visual skills necessary to work creatively, develop their intellectual abilities to think critically, and cultivate the personal discipline and maturity to reflect thoughtfully on the world and our place in it. Description

Donations are applied to...

Studio Art, Art History, Design, and our Visiting Lecture Series.

Why are donations necessary?

The Department’s three distinct areas of study, studio art, art history, and design all maintain active visiting lecture programs, inviting artists, scholars and designers to campus each semester. Funds raised through ND Day will directly support these lecture series. Additional opportunities to support the department include the Graphic and Industrial Design Alumni Fund, a new Social Design Fund, the Art History division, and the Studio Art Division. ND Day contributions to these areas will support various programming, gallery exhibitions, new equipment, and student research expenses. Exciting new curricular initiatives include the Studio Art Minor and the Collaborative Innovation Minor in Design. You may designate funds to these programs as well.
