The purpose of the Eagle Club, the fundraising arm for UMW Athletics, is to raise monetary support while also raising awareness. Donors join the Eagle Club with gifts of $50 or more. Gifts may be designated to the general fund "Friends of Athletics" which directly support all sport programs at Mary Washington or to a specific sport team. #RiseUpUMW means committing to a tradition of excellence in the classroom, in our community and every athletic competition. Today, when you designate your gift to a specific sports team please consider the call: #RiseUpUMW and match that gift to "Friends of Athletics".
Today, on #MaryWashDay help us make an impact. We need all of Eagle Nation to inspire more Eagle Pride and share via Facebook, emails, text messages and on other social media. When you share about MWGD you will "pay it forward" for current and future Eagles for years to come.
Don't forget:This past fall the Eagle Club introduced the Pride for Program Alumni Challenge. PPAC is a "competition" spanning the fiscal year between all programs. The three sport programs with the highest overall alumni giving percentage by June 30th will be awarded additional foundation funds!

When you donate to "Friends of Athletics" you are providing critical funding, department-wide, to enhance the UMW student-athlete experience. These are just a few department-wide initiatives that will be bolstered by your gift to "Friends of Athletics" on Mary Wash Giving Day:
Leadership Academy - A summertime three-day submersion where 30 student-athletes (chosen by their coaches) work together in discussion groups and through leadership activities to grow and develop as leaders for their teams.
Academic Success Services - UMW Athletics works closely with Career and Academic Services to provide student-athletes with the best resources to prepare them for graduation. UMW Athletics has established a faculty liaison program which partners a faculty member with every team to strengthen networks for student-athlete success. In addition, the Eagles Helping Eagles program is a peer-to-peer tutor initiative which strategically pairs student-athlete study partners who face similar challenges both academically and athletically.
S.A.A.C. Community Impact - The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee works to build a sense of community within athletics throughout the campus and local community while promoting a positive student-athlete image on campus. UMW SAAC leads the department-wide partnership with Special Olympics and the campus-wide food drive that has donated over 15,000 lbs. of food to the area food bank over the last three years. SAAC also facilitates Eagle Nation Day - a free, family-fun festival for young children hosted by UMW Athletics at the Battleground Athletic Complex; aimed to foster role model relationships and promote healthy habits.
Building and Maintaining Facilities - A major component of the student-athlete experience is a commitment to excellence across all athletic facilities. Over the last half-decade UMW Athletics has renovated the Student-Athlete Strength & Conditioning Center, built a Student-Athlete Study Lounge, added new elevated turf-field bleachers, upgraded the Athletic Training room and finished a state-of-the-art renovation to the Track & Field Complex.
