Support the Fred Steinmark Fund
The Fred Steinmark Fund – the first endowment ever established by Texas Athletics – inspires donors like you to support a new generation of Longhorns while honoring the legacy of one of the Longhorns’ most inspirational student-athletes of all time. Your gift to the Fred Steinmark Fund will be credited on your Longhorn Foundation account and earns 5 Loyalty Points per $100 donated.
You can create a legacy, too
When you support the Fred Steinmark Fund – or establish an endowment of your own – your gift lasts forever. Like sound investments, an endowment grows over time to ensure a promising future for generations of Texas student-athletes. Your generosity will help guarantee the financial resilience of UT Athletics and provide for the educational well-being of our student-athletes – not just today but forever.
Freddie’s inspirational story
Freddie Steinmark was a starting safety for the Longhorns’ national champion football team in 1969. He endures as a Texas symbol of courage and perseverance – and an inspiration to us all. Following UT’s victory against No. 2 Arkansas, a cancerous tumor was discovered in Freddie’s left thigh, resulting in amputation of his leg. He returned to the sidelines on crutches to support his team’s triumph over Notre Dame in Cotton Bowl. Freddie passed away in Houston two years later.
Give a student-athlete the support they need
Your endowment donation can fully cover the academic-related costs of a world class University of Texas education for our student-athletes. If we come together to fully fund the Fred Steinmark endowment, we will be able to provide a full scholarship every year to a student-athlete to follow in Freddie’s footsteps with courage and determination.
