Lute Olson Statue
Arizona Athletics is honoring Lute Olson for his significant contributions to the University of Arizona and Tucson community by constructing a statue in his likeness. The statue will be located on the north side of McKale Memorial Center on the Eddie Lynch Pavilion, where it can be enjoyed by all.
We would like to invite you to join us in honoring his legacy by contributing to the statue project. The estimated cost is $300,000, and construction is tentatively scheduled to be completed in Spring 2018.
For almost a quarter of a century, Arizona fans cheered on Coach Olson and the Wildcats as they rose to national prominence. Even now, when Lute Olson is spotted at an Arizona basketball game, chants of “Lute” almost always erupt in McKale—a true illustration of the long-lasting impact he’s had on generations of Wildcat fans.

Through the success of Arizona basketball, Lute helped introduce people around the country to our University and this city, and he forever changed the trajectory and perception of our athletics department. His legendary status is worthy of this honor, and we’re proud that his statue will be visible to the thousands of people that visit McKale on a yearly basis.”
