Dear Columbia Golf Alumni and Friends,
We want to share our gratitude for your support for a successful 2016-2017 season. While we fell short of our ultimate goal of winning the Ivy League Championship and competing in the NCAA Division I Tournament, I do not characterize the year on the course as a disappointment by any measures. Not only did we have the Ivy Rookie of the Year and two members of our team earning All-Ivy awards, but we also proved that we are competitive on the national level as well. Although it is the players who swing the clubs, the success is not solely owned by them—it belongs to all of you who give your time, talents, and treasures to the program.
Columbia Men's Golf looks drastically different than it did even a couple short years ago. We now have a state-of-the-art launch monitor and simulator in our locker room in Dodge Fitness Center, we have access to more courses in the New York Metro area including the prestigious Haworth Country Club, we added two assistant coaches who help our young men on and off the course, and our schedule is always amongst the strongest in the Ivy League.
Giving Day is a time to reflect on how far we have come as a program and, more importantly, look forward to the bright future that lies ahead. As you’ll note below, there are short-term enhancements as well as some larger projects that will help us attract and retain the country’s best prospective student-athletes. We look forward to pushing our boundaries by working to complete our short- and long-term goals. Here are a few:
SPECIAL PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES
Short-term (one year)
- Raise capital funds for a new indoor golf facility within Dodge
- Raise $100,000 in donations to supplement our annual operating budget
- Add new green-grass facilities by forming strategic partnerships
Long-term (two - five years)
- Endow Men’s Coaching positions (Head & Assistant coaches)
- Endow Senior Dinner
On behalf of each member of the current and past teams, we thank you in advance for your contributions to improving the program one meaningful step at a time.
Your gift to the Men's Golf annual fund supports our student-athletes in all they do.
Your gift to Columbia Men's Golf supports the program in a variety of ways. It is applied to the costs of equipment, recruiting, travel, and everything else our coaches need annually to run the program efficiently. It helps our student-athletes have the best experience possible.
Donations from alumni, parents, and friends are necessary for the program to be successful. With your support, we are working to fulfill our commitments to winning, the personal success and well-being of our student-athletes, and the Columbia community.
