We opened our doors in October 1998, a small medical institution with an ambitious vision: to establish, right in New York City, a world-class center of excellence for diabetes, combining research with clinical care in one place. In the years since, the Berrie Center has come into its own. With our innovative all-around patient care becoming a model for others, and our research in the spotlight from molecular level to clinical trials, our reputation has forged ahead nationally and internationally.
Our investment of time and energy translates to a need for funding for everything we do for our patients. It goes beyond the welcome we extend to uninsured or underinsured patients. Every visit of every Berrie Center patient calls for financial support to balance our costs, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. And nor, we believe, would you.
It’s no secret that research costs money. The Berrie Center is involved with all kinds of research at every level, from the molecular or cellular level of microscopes and Petri dishes, right through to the clinical trial comparing treatments in everyday therapy. All our research is designed to translate to practical patient care...and ultimately a cure.
