During the past two years, generous donors have given approximately $24,000 to the Founders Endowment, initiated in 2015 as part of the commemoration of the founding of the Retirees Association in 1985. Our goal is to raise $75,000 so that our student scholarships and faculty development grants will be self-sustaining.
On Giving Tuesday, November 28, we are asking for your support. Thanks to the University Foundation at Sacramento State, there are $10,000 in matching funds available on a first come, first served basis--gifts from faculty and staff will be matched dollar for dollar up to $100 until the matching funds run out.
In addition, some Retirees Association Board members have agreed to an additional match of the total donations to the Founders Endowment received during November, up to a total of $2,250.
We invite you to participate in this effort. Donations can be made by check or credit card, as a one-time gift or recurring monthly payment.
Our primary purpose is “to invigorate and sustain the sense of community established among colleagues during their careers at California State University, Sacramento.” In other words - to keep in touch and enjoy each other's company. Another important purpose is raising funds to support the campus.
Part of the mission of the Retirees Association as stated in our constitution is, “To provide support for the University and its students, faculty and staff.” All the money that we raise from retiree donations and member dues is used for this purpose.
About half of the Retirees Association's support for the campus consists of three ongoing, annual commitments. The Retirees Association Scholarship provides two $1,500 scholarships to help children of current faculty and staff attain their degrees. The Faculty Development Grant provides two $500 grants to recognize promising untenured faculty. A $500 donation to the University Staff Assembly supports their spring picnic.
Our goal is to raise at least $5,000 this Giving Tuesday. Please help us reach our funding goal.
Make your Giving Tuesday gift today and help these remarkable goals become reality.
