We’re over half way to reaching our goal of $17,000 which will be used to send 16 very talented MiraCosta College theatre students to the 2016 KCACTF Region VIII Festival being held in Hawaii Thursday, Feb. 11th through Sunday, Feb. 14th. Participants will be immersed in the theater, music, dance, language, ritual and food of the Hawaiian people throughout festival – a truly unique opportunity! If donations are received in excess of our goal, those funds will be used for the Theatre department’s highest priority need.
The Kennedy Center American College Theater (KCACTF) is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide which has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of College Theater in the United States. The KCACTF has grown into a network of more than 600 academic institutions throughout the country, where theater departments and student artists showcase their work and receive outside assessment by KCACTF respondents.
“ACTF is about reflection, to me. Sometimes you don’t realize how much you know until you’re put on the spot in an interview. ACTF is about believing in yourself and the work you’ve created to take you there. ACTF was a huge growing experience for me as a costumer and a person, nothing can quite compare.” –Kayti Mitchell (MiraCosta Alumni)
