Donations to the Notre Dame Chapter of She's the First help to support girls' education in Blink Now’s Kopila Valley School co-educational school. Students come to school from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an hour for lunch time. The medical clinic is open in the morning for basic medical needs. Before and after school extra help and tutoring is offered for those who need it. Otherwise, the playground is open for playing volleyball, soccer, and other games. There is also a counselor on staff, as well as counseling groups and activities for those who need it. Kopila Valley is a safe place for students to spend the day, receive an education in basic English, Nepali, Math, Science, Health, and Social Studies and have their basic needs met. School runs from Sunday-Friday, with Friday being a half day for extracurricular and fun activities, i.e. racing, sports matches, dance competitions, debate, art, and other activities. During this exciting time, we have the unique opportunity to earn a portion of a $1 Million! Make a $10 gift on Notre Dame Day (April 24 – 25), and receive 5 votes to cast. The total number of votes we receive decides our percentage of the $1 Million. Please vote for us!
Since the club budget is quite small, we have to hold relatively inexpensive events to fundraise our donation money. All of what we fundraise throughout the year goes directly to our She's the First scholars in Nepal. The only funds used for events and club activities come from dues and t-shirt sales. Last year, we were able to more than double our donation to the scholars ($3300!) because of the great success we had with Notre Dame Day! Hopefully we will be able to sponsor even more girls in Nepal and possibly another country. Please help in us in sharing the wonderful opportunities we have at ND with girls across the world who may not get the opportunity otherwise!
