She's the First is an international organization that provides young girls in developing countries with scholarships to encourage their education. Our chapter is dedicated to raising money for and communicating with the girls we sponsor with the goal of creating first-generation graduates and our next generation of global leaders. Donations to the Notre Dame Chapter of She's the First help to support girls' education in Blink Now’s Kopila Valley School co-educational school in Nepal. Students come to school from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an hour for lunch time. The medical clinic is open in the morning for basic medical needs. Before and after school extra help and tutoring is offered for those who need it. Otherwise, the playground is open for playing volleyball, soccer, and other games. There is also a counselor on staff, as well as counseling groups and activities for those who need it. Kopila Valley is a safe place for students to spend the day, receive an education in basic English, Nepali, Math, Science, Health, and Social Studies and have their basic needs met. School runs from Sunday-Friday, with Friday being a half day for extracurricular and fun activities, i.e. racing, sports matches, dance competitions, debate, art, and other activities. During this exciting time, we have the unique opportunity to earn a portion of $1 Million! Make a $10 gift on Notre Dame Day (April 23 – 24), and receive 5 votes to cast. She's the First Club of Notre Dame
Students need more than text books to do well; they need the support programs that will help them to focus in class and teach them the skills they need to translate their learnings outside of the classroom. We achieve this by teaming up with local, on-the-ground partners who provide the absolute best in education, including all of the wrap-around programs that we know girls need to find success. Through your donation to She's the First, we will be able to contribute to the futures of young girls in developing nations whose families are unable to support their academic endeavors.
Why are donations necessary?
All of what we fundraise throughout the year goes directly to our seven She's the First scholars in Nepal. Because our club budget is limited, however, our events, predominately cupcake sales, are relatively inexpensive and all of our club activities are paid for using funds from dues and t-shirt sales. We were able to donate over 1,000 dollars to our scholars this year, which would not have been possible without our success during Notre Dame Day 2016! We would love to be able to partner with more girls and contribute more to the STF Campus Chapter Scholarship Fund, which helps multiple scholars around the world. Please help us in sharing the wonderful opportunities we have at Notre Dame with girls globally who may not receive the opportunity otherwise!
