Special Olympics of Notre Dame is participating in the third annual Notre Dame Day! We are a student-led organization that provides year-round sports training and athletic competition at no cost for individuals across the Northern Indiana region who have developmental disabilities. As one of the largest clubs on campus, we have over 50 athletes and 1,000 students on our mailing list. The majority of our funding comes from generous donors like you! Please vote for us on Notre Dame Day!

Special Olympics of Notre Dame hosts many athletic and social activities throughout the year, including pick-up basketball, ice skating, volleyball, travel to a Unified soccer tournament, varsity team game-watches, field days, a ReelAbilities film festival, presentations by speakers in the community, and a campus-wide celebration of "End the R-Word Day." We also support St. Joseph County Special Olympics swimming and ballroom dancing. This year, we hope to also host a home Unified Soccer tournament and a fun run on campus.
Special Olympics, Notre Dame (SOND)
Special Olympics of Notre Dame is a student-led organization that provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for individuals across the Northern Indiana region who have developmental disabilities. SOND strives to offer athletes continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. Our activities include soccer, basketball, volleyball, and ice skating. We also support St. Joseph County Special Olympics swimming and ballroom dancing. Additionally SOND hosts several events around campus to promote awareness of developmental disabilities; these include a ReelAbilities film festival, presentations by speakers in the community, and a campus-wide celebration of “End the R-Word Day.”
Why are donations necessary?
We host several sports and social events throughout the year for individuals with special needs, and their families, completely free of charge. Our costs include travel expenses, activity fees, equipment costs, food and beverage, and supplies. We would be unable to host many of our signature events without your generous support!
