Description

A semester- or year-long program open to students in all majors, who have completed a minimum of four semesters of college-level Spanish (or the equivalent). Notre Dame’s program is conducted at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica (PUC), one of the most prestigious universities in South America. All participants take two required classes: Spanish for Foreigners and Chilean Politics and Society and directly enroll in two to three additional classes at PUC. In addition to the required courses and the PUC courses, students may participate in an optional Approaches to Poverty and Development course taught at the Universidad Alberto Hurtado. Students enrolled in this class participate in supervised volunteer work a few hours each week in an area of urban poverty and will participate in a seminar once a week to analyze issues of poverty and development.
