The friends and family of Larry Chunovich wish to honor him through a scholarship made in his memory at Oakland University. The Larry Chunovich Legacy Scholarship will be awarded to students with demonstrated need pursuing a degree in math education. This endowment will be a lasting tribute to Larry – his way of continuing to help and inspire future generations in math education.

Scholarship awards will be provided to undergad students studying secondary education who are also preparing for an endorsement in mathematics. Scholarships will be based on financial need of the student, with preference to students from Southfield Public Schools.
Personal Message
Larry touched the lives of many students while he taught at Southfield-Lathrop High School. He furthered his impact to students at Oakland University when he served on the Board of Trustees. Before he passed away in 2015, Larry knew that a scholarship was being created, and was "thrilled and delighted that his name would be carried on in a legacy like this", according to his wife, Keitha Chenovich in an article published by the Michigan Education Association earlier this year.
Why are donations necessary?
Larry's friends and family hope to raise $25,000 to endow the the Larry Chunovich Legacy Scholarship in perpetuity. Endowing this scholarship fund will allow Larry's spirit to continue his work to inspire and educate future math teachers for generations.
