Since the 1960’s, Notre Dame’s TRiO Programs (Talent Search and Upward Bound) have been essential to helping thousands of local first-generation and low-income students lay the foundation for a lifetime of achievement. Through tutoring, mentoring, academic counseling, career exploration, cultural enrichment and community service, our students, in grades six through twelve, continue to reach higher, dream bigger and expect more of themselves as a result of their experiences with TRiO.
We plan to utilize the funds to again to provide paid internships to our graduating seniors before entering college. In addition, a portion of the funds will be utilized to provide an educational/cultural excursion to Toronto, Canada, as our federal funds cannot be utilized for this specific experience.
Our two TRiO programs serve over 1000 local students (Talent Search-899, Upward Bound-104), and are both federally funded. Donations allow us to provide paid internships for our graduating seniors before they enter their freshman year of college, and support international educational/cultural excursions; both unallowable expenses per our federal regulations.
