Welcome to the USD Women's Club lacrosse page! We are excited to passionately 'advertise' our club to viewers because we think it's a great organization, and also a fun time. Thanks to prior donations, this club has provided friends, exercise and a healthy competitive atmosphere for many years, and we wish the same for the future.
The lacrosse team is more than a sports team for most of us, it is a time to unleash from academic stresses, build lasting friendships, and stay healthy. To ensure our club can continue to prosper and win, your support would mean the world for new and returning members. Thank you for viewing our page, and go Toreros!
As a club sport, we aren’t funded by the University of San Diego therefore all the revenue in our club’s budget comes from player’s dues and donations. Player dues for the spring season are already $550, and raising them further could scare potential new members away from playing the sport they love. We are asking for your support because it is essential for the USD Women’s Club Lacrosse Team to continue to fundraise so our club can be more inclusive to individuals who are struggling financially.
Tournament entry fees, coach’s salary, league dues, travel fees (hotels, gas, bus), equipment, uniforms, trainer wages, and official dues.
Currently, our club spends about $23,000 yearly, and 25 percent of this money comes from donations via fundraising. Our budget must allocate funds for tournament entry fees, coach’s salary, league dues, travel fees, equipment, uniforms and official dues. This upcoming school year 2017-2018, we are trying to cope with the loss of funding that the Associated Students gifted us for trainer payment. At about $1,300 per semester, it is a significant cost for our club. We are trying to cope with this huge loss by fundraising because these trainers are necessary to play a game. Additionally, our club just spent $4000 for new uniforms so they follow the league’s uniform design requirements.
Thus, this season we are barely skating by with the budget fees for this season. It would be a shame to be unable to pay for a premier West Coast tournament, the Santa Barbara Shootout, because our camaraderie grows substantially from this tournament, which is then reflected on the field throughout the season. We had a stellar season last year, winning the Southern Conference in the Division 1 Western Women’s League, and we plan to continue this positive trajectory, but can only do so with your support.
