What is Notre Dame Day?

“Let me tell you something about Notre Dame: if you've been there, no explanation is needed; if you haven't, no explanation will suffice.” ~ Lou Holtz. Notre Dame Day is a time to celebrate everything that makes us what we are. On April 24 at 18:42 pm ET (6:42 pm ET), Notre Dame Day will kickoff with a live broadcast at NOTREDAMEDAY.ND.EDU. The 29-hour broadcast will showcase Notre Dame stories from around the world, as well as live interviews, special musical performances, remotes, in-studio performances and surprise celebrity guests. Please spread the word and help us earn votes! Follow the celebration on social media with #NDday.

How does it work?

On Notre Dame Day (April 24-25), benefactors will have the opportunity to gift $10 to the university. This $10 goes directly towards any cause that the donor chooses, like dorm funds or scholarships (or VSA!). In return, the donor will receive 5 votes to be distributed among any of the campaigns running on Notre Dame Day (such as VSA!). At the end of the day, the percentage of total votes that each club gets will determine the percentage of $1 million that each club receives. Last year, each vote was worth almost $15! So for a $10 initial donation, the university will end up donating almost $85 to any clubs that you choose. VSA has a wonderful opportunity to be a part of this, and these donations will be a very important fund for all of our events to come.

Who are we?

The Vietnamese Student Association of ND is a student club that seeks to foster and spread Vietnamese culture at Notre Dame. We are open to all backgrounds and ethnicities, but we are proud of our heritage, and our mission is to become a defining aspect of the diversity on campus. Through our club events, we hope to celebrate this part of us that makes us unique, and we hope that everyone else at Notre Dame comes to love experiencing Vietnamese culture!

What will your gift be used for?

As a Notre Dame club, VSA wants to make a difference, and so we have committed to donating 50% of all our proceeds from Notre Dame Day to One Body Village, an organization that fights child trafficking in Vietnam. In addition, VSA is active throughout the year, and your gift will also support club events. Some of these include 1) Food days, where we make and serve Vietnamese cuisine, like pho or goi cuon, 2) Anh Chi Em activities, our “Big/Little Program”, and 3) our Vietnamese cultural show, “Notre Dame by Night”, NEW for the 2016-2017 school year.
